New Orleans Jazz Festival Kicks Off for Seven Days - April 25 - 27 & May 1 – 4
Posted by: Publisher on Wednesday, March 19, 2008 - 05:11 PM
Festivals The return of the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival presented by Shell, one of America’s most celebrated celebrations, to its first full seven days of programming since 2005 has inspired Festival organizers to assemble the deepest overall mix of rhythm & blues, rock, jazz, country, blues, gospel, world beat, and more in the 39-year history of the event.

Quint Davis, producer/director of the Festival, said, ā€œWelcoming Stevie Wonder, Billy Joel, Tim McGraw, Sheryl Crow, and Keyshia Cole for the first time, in the same year that we’ve added the Thursday back to the Festival—and in the same year we’re bringing back all-time Fest favorites The Neville Brothers, Jimmy Buffett, Santana, Widespread Panic, Maze featuring Frankie Beverly, and Diana Krall, among so many others—speaks to our serious effort to grow the Festival at a time when New Orleans needs it the most.ā€

Sweden - Contrasts In the Land of the Midnight Sun
Posted by: Publisher on Tuesday, January 08, 2008 - 03:59 PM
Destinations The rocky coastline of Sweden is dotted with thousands of small islands, some green and lush, others craggy and barren. There are five main archipelagos on the eastern and the western sides of the country, particularly around Gothenburg and Stockholm. Steep cliffs, rolling hills and narrow valleys sit side-by-side calm lakes and deep bays along the High Coast on the Gulf of Bothnia. This is a UNESCO World Heritage Site situated on the east coast of Sweden.

The Stockholm archipelago is made up of 24,000 islands, skerries and islets and stretches 80 km east of the city. As they are so accessible, being serviced by regular ferries, you can easily island-hop a whole summer away. Off the coasts of the islands of Ɩland and Gotland you will find the spectacular ā€˜raukar’ - limestone pillars, that have stood since time immemorial, as well as sandy beaches. Along the coast of Sweden and its archipelagos there are many watersports to enjoy, including yachting, canoeing, kayaking, windsurfing, kite boarding and water skiing. For nature lovers, the wildlife and in particular the seals, sea birds and sea life are a treat.

The Fifth Annual Panama Jazz Festival January 21- 26, 2008
Posted by: Publisher on Tuesday, January 08, 2008 - 02:21 PM
Festivals Founded by Panamanian pianist Danilo PĆ©rez, the Panama Jazz Festival which celebrates its 5th birthday January 21 – 26, 2008 was created in order to exchange cultural experiences between the best musicians in the world and the Panamanian people.

Perez’s vision has guided the growth of the festival, which while continuing to bring top tier international artists to perform in ticketed and free events, now has as its inextricable center the need to address music education.

According to PĆ©rez, ā€œEach year we have been expanding the educational aspect of the Festival, bringing in more notable musicians as master teachers, additional major educational institutions, growing the audition process, reaching out to the most needy communities in Panama and increasing the amount and kind of scholarships, and the cultural opportunities we are able to make available to the young people of Panama. We now see ourselves as an educational and cultural convention, as opposed to a traditional jazz festival,ā€ he continued, ā€œOf course bringing top American and International talent to perform in the Festival continues to be a very integral and exciting part of what we do. It is the performances, the ticket sales, the government and corporate sponsorship of the Festival that makes it possible to fund our educational agenda.ā€

Resorts Hotels Inns B&B's The British Colonial Hilton, just minutes from the city's port and within 20 minutes of the airport is a true Bahamian experience dating back to 1695, on the former site of Old Fort Nassau. Although Proprietary Governor, Sir Nicolas Trott, built the Fort for the purpose of safeguarding the island against pirates, even the famous pirate, Blackbeard and his cohort's enjoyed a stay at the hotel. Today, after a 68 million dollar renovation, the British Colony Hilton offers an elegant taste of the island’s rich history, along with some of the most modern amenities for business and vacation travelers.

A sweeping staircase welcomes guests in the bright, marble-tiled lobby studded with palm trees under a skylight ceiling; situated in the heart of the financial and shopping district.
